Some ear and grain characters of modern maize hybrids in the Danube Corn Belt in relation to combine harvesting

, : Some ear and grain characters of modern maize hybrids in the Danube Corn Belt in relation to combine harvesting. The way ahead in plant breeding Proceedings of the sixth congress of Eucarpia, Cambridge 29 June 2 July 1971: 77-78

In combine harvesting, characters such as plant height, cob strength, size and shape of ear and grain and shelling ability are important. Variations in these characters were noted amongst 22 varieties from an international collection grown in trials in 1970.
