Some effects of the growth-retardant glyphosine on the sugar-beet crop

, : Some effects of the growth-retardant glyphosine on the sugar-beet crop. Annals of Applied Biology 79(3): 343-350

A range of doses of the growth retardant glyphosine was tested in 4 trials on sugar beet crops in 1970-2 with various intervals between application and harvest. Effects on seedling root development were investigated in nutrient mist culture in 1972. Glyphosine decreased root, sugar and top yield of sugar beet at all doses of >0.56 kg a.i./ha at all treatment times and significantly increased the alpha -amino N content of roots at >1.12 kg a.i./ha.
