, : Some factors affecting body weight at weaning in zebu calves. Boletim de Industria Animal 31(1): 39-65

Records on 623 Gir, Nellore and Guzerat calves were used to investigate the effects of sex, season of weaning, parity and year on weaning weight. In the 3 breeds, weaning weight of males averaged 176.95, 195.70 and 199.12 kg resp. v 161.89, 180.25 and 185.66 in females , the sex difference being significant in all breeds. Weaning weight ranged from 156.99 kg for calves weaned in June-July to 199.32 kg for calves weaned in Feb.-Mar., the differences being significant in all breeds.
