Chopped lucerne was stored for 8 months at -30 deg , then ground and deep-frozen for a further 5 months. Frozen herbage of Italian and Westerwolds ryegrass containing 400 and 500 mg carotene/kg DM was ground and stored for 10 months at -30 deg C.
