Structure and development of sugar beet canopy. 1. Leaf area-leaf angle relations

, : Structure and development of sugar beet canopy. 1. Leaf area-leaf angle relations. Photosynthetica 6(4): 401-409

In plants of sugar beet Dobrovicha A grown in N.-S. rows in 1969, LAI increased from 2.2 on 8 July to a maximum of 4.5 on 22 July and then decreased to 4.0 on 3 Sept. and to 2.8 at harvest (4 Oct.). With increase in crop age, the preponderance of the E.-.W. position of the leaves increased slightly, the average leaf angle decreased from 61.6 deg to 41.7 deg and the maximum leaf area moved from the top to the bottom of the canopy.
