Studies on heterospermic semen in Murrah buffaloes: Effect of mixing ejaculates, resistance to hypertonic sodium chloride solution and cold-shock treatment

, : Studies on heterospermic semen in Murrah buffaloes: Effect of mixing ejaculates, resistance to hypertonic sodium chloride solution and cold-shock treatment. Indian Journal of Animal Sciences 41(11): 1022-1025

Semen was collected 3 times weekly from 5 Murrah buffalo bulls and mixed in equal quantities. The percentage of live spermatozoa averaged 68.5 plus or minus 0.84% and motility 67.5 plus or minus 0.75%, differences between samples being non-significant. No sperm agglutination was observed. Resistance to 1% NaCl was similar in individual samples and in the mixed ejaculate.
