Studies on immunity to Eimeria tenella in chickens. I. Changes in the number of parasites in the caecum and the relationship between circulatory antibody and resistance to infection in immune chickens

, : Studies on immunity to Eimeria tenella in chickens. I. Changes in the number of parasites in the caecum and the relationship between circulatory antibody and resistance to infection in immune chickens. Japanese Poultry Science 8(3): 156-160

Up to 24 hours after challenge the immune and non-immune chickens differed little in the number of sporozoites and trophozoites in the caecum. By 72-96 hours after challenge the caecum of the non-immune birds contained over three times the number of sporozoites and trophozoites found in the caecum of the immune birds.
