Studies on initiation and subsequent development of floral bud in rice plants. 2. Photoperiodic responses of an early maturing variety

, : Studies on initiation and subsequent development of floral bud in rice plants. 2. Photoperiodic responses of an early maturing variety. Bulletin of the Faculty of Agriculture, Mie University 44: 1-9

In pot trials, flowering of the very early rice Todorokiwase was delayed as the photoperiod increased from 12 to 16 h, while the late-flowering Norin 18 did not flower with 16-h photoperiod and was less affected by 14-h but was more affected by 10- or 12-h photoperiods than Todorokiwase. Increasing the number of short days given hastened flowering in Todorokiwase, while red, but not blue light, during the dark period, delayed it.
