Studies on the oestrogenic substances in herbage. 6. Seasonal variation of the growth promoting effect of lucerne extract on the golden hamster

, : Studies on the oestrogenic substances in herbage. 6. Seasonal variation of the growth promoting effect of lucerne extract on the golden hamster. Journal of Japanese Society of Grassland Science 19(4): 394-398

1st, 2nd and 3rd growths of lucerne were harvested at full flowering and the 4th growth during the vegetative stage and ethyl-ether extracts of each sample were added to oestrogen-free diets fed to spayed golden hamsters at a rate of 0.66 g lucerne DM with oestrogenic potencies of 18.5, 11.2, 2.6 and 5.3 mu g DES/kg feed, respectively.
