Studies on the opsonizing effect of the 19S and 7S globulins of bovine serum.

, : Studies on the opsonizing effect of the 19S and 7S globulins of bovine serum.. Archiv fur Experimentelle Veterinarmedizin 26(Heft 2): 349-353

As part of an investigation into the protective value of 19S and 7S globulins against Escherichia coli, the phagocytic activity (phagocytic index) of calf blood was determined, since this corresponds to the resistance of a calf to coli infection. Experiments on the blood of 5 newborn calves and 5 samples of fractionated serum from adult cattle showed that the opsonizing effect of normal bovine serum against E. coli is almost exclusively associated with the 19S globulin.
