, : Studies on the outbreak of equine influenza in Japan in 1971: Haematological observations. Experimental Reports of Equine Health Laboratory (9): 1-9

An extensive outbreak of equine influenza occurred for the first time in Japan at the end of 1971, involving the Tokyo, Nakayama and Fukushima racecourses, and also the Tokyo Equestrian Park where 168 of 171 horses were infected within 6 days. Blood samples from ten cases all had high HI titres.
