Studies on the ovarian development in the housefly, Musca domestica vicina Macquart. I. Stages of oogenesis and the function of the follicle

, : Studies on the ovarian development in the housefly, Musca domestica vicina Macquart. I. Stages of oogenesis and the function of the follicle. Japanese Journal of Medical Science & Biology 26(5): 239-248

During histological and biochemical studies of ovarian development in Musca domestica vicina Macq., it was found that increases in ovarian weight during development were, considerable and paralleled increases in the size of the follicle. Protein and lipid accumulated abundantly in the developing ovary, and a small amount of glycogen was observed in the later stages of oogenesis.
