Studies on the padi mushroom (Volvariella volvacea). IV. Trials with different isolates in unfumigated and fumigated oil palm pericarp waste

, : Studies on the padi mushroom (Volvariella volvacea). IV. Trials with different isolates in unfumigated and fumigated oil palm pericarp waste. Malaysian Agricultural Research 3(2): 113-118

The performances of 3 field isolates collected from oil palm bunch waste in Selangor and 4 isolates from Sarawak, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore were compared. In 2 experiments, the Hong Kong isolate yielded 5-6 kg/100 kg of waste and gave a maximum bed yield of over 3.1 kg or 7.4 kg/100 kg of waste. This performance approaches and surpasses yields from padi straw.
