Studies on the pathology of the lesions encountered in aortas and pulmonary arteries of slaughtered sheep and goats

, : Studies on the pathology of the lesions encountered in aortas and pulmonary arteries of slaughtered sheep and goats. Indian Journal of Animal Sciences 42(9): 698-705

The lesions encountered were comparable with atheromatous plaques in intima, characterized by either degeneration or proliferation of the connective tissue in intima with fat and cholesterol present. Zone of calcification was mostly confined to the medial coats, at times with areas of cartilage and bone formation. Biochemical analysis, in sheep with sclerosed vessels revealed a high content of tissue cholesterol in sheep with sclerosed vessels but not in goats.
