On peach in Georgia, field populations of Aculus cornutus (Banks) below 50 mites/leaf were found to occur more commonly on the lower surface of the leaf near the midvein; at populations above 100/leaf, the mites spread to all areas and both surfaces of the leaf. Dispersal was effected apparently by wind. Mites were active on a leaf at temperatures between 22 and 31 deg C, with nymphs continuing activity up to 32.5 deg C. Below 24 deg C, the mites were sluggish, and activity ceased at 21 deg C.
