Studies on the performance of lucerne swards. 3. Effect of differences in density and cultivar on the yield of lucerne swards

, : Studies on the performance of lucerne swards. 3. Effect of differences in density and cultivar on the yield of lucerne swards. Proceedings of the Crop Science Society of Japan 41(2): 205-212

Lucerne Moapa, Rhizoma and Williamsburg were grown at (a) 25, (b) 625 or (c) 2500 plants/m2. DM yields/unit area over a 3-year period were in the order: (c) = (b) > (a) for all cv.; the difference between (a) and the other 2 densities was attributed to the difference in yield at the 1st harvest. Cultivar Williamsburg was highest yielding followed by Rhizoma.
