Studies on the performance of two oats as affected by dates of planting and levels of nitrogen fertilization

, : Studies on the performance of two oats as affected by dates of planting and levels of nitrogen fertilization. Indian Journal of Agronomy 16(3): 288-292

In trials in the rabi seasons of 1966-7 and 1967-8 with 2 oat given 0-120 kg N/ha, Avena sativa Kent and a cultivar of A. byzantina (red oats) gave average fresh fodder yields of 4.31 and 3.54 t/ha, respectively. Delay in sowing from 1 Oct. to 29 Nov. in 1966 and from 10 Oct. to 9 Dec. in 1967 produced a progressive decrease in yields of Kent, but had little effect on yields of A. byzantina.
