Studies on the permissible limit of successive missing in rice cultivation with young seedling transplantation, especially in relation to the compensating ability of neighbouring hills

, : Studies on the permissible limit of successive missing in rice cultivation with young seedling transplantation, especially in relation to the compensating ability of neighbouring hills. Bulletin of the Hiroshima Prefectural Agricultural Experiment Station (32): 1-6

In trials in 1967-8, seedlings of rice Reimei, Asahikari and Nakate-Shinsenbon were transplanted at 4 plants/hill in rows 30 cm apart at 15 cm between hills and the effect of removal of seedlings from 2-5 successive hills on the compensating ability of neighbouring hills was investigated. Hills bordering missed areas had higher numbers of tillers and panicles, a higher percentage of productive tillers and a higher panicle weight than those of the controls.
