Studies on the persistence of lindane in fruits and vegetables

Information is given on the fate of residues of gamma BHC (lindane) in cabbage, egg-plant peppers tomatos and apples that had been sprayed in the field near Bucharest in 1969-70 with the emulsifiable formulation Lindatox 20 at the rate of 1% toxicant. Analysis was colorimetric. In apples, an average initial deposit of 4.54 p.p.m. was found to decrease to 0.54 p.p.m. after 4 days. In cabbage, the deposit was high (about 18 p.p.m.) but after 14 days it was only about 0.3 p.p.m.
