Studies on the phenols of resistant and susceptible varieties of chillies in relation to anthracnose disease

, : Studies on the phenols of resistant and susceptible varieties of chillies in relation to anthracnose disease. Phytopathologische Zeitschrift 75(3): 236-240

Plants of 2 chilli cvs, one resistant and one susceptible to Colletotrichum capsici, were inoculated with the fungus when they were 90 days old and the post-infectional phenolic levels were determined. In general, the resistant had a higher phenolic level than the susceptible one. Inoculated plants of both cvs showed an increase in phenols over the controls.
