Studies on the photosynthesis of high-stem trained grapevines

, : Studies on the photosynthesis of high-stem trained grapevines. Gradinarska i Lozarska Nauka 10(4): 89-97

The photosynthesis of 4 grapevine cvs was measured in the field by an infra-red gas analyser using a mobile polythene chamber. The total CO2 assimilation by high-stem, Moser-trained vines was usually only 65 to 90% of the CO2 assimilation by stemless Guyot-trained plants pruned to an equal number of buds. A 3-4 fold increase in the bud load of Guyot-trained plants increased the total assimilation by less than 50%.
