Studies on the physiological chemistry of the allantoic and amniotic fluids of buffaloes at the various periods of pregnancy

, : Studies on the physiological chemistry of the allantoic and amniotic fluids of buffaloes at the various periods of pregnancy. Indian Veterinary Journal 52(2): 106-112

In early pregnancy both allantoic and amniotic fluids are colourless; later they become straw or amber yellow colour, and still later they become thick and syrupy. The pH is 6.8-7.2 and specific gravity 1004-1020 in all stages. Allantoic fluid has lower NaCl and higher glucose, K, Ca and inorganic P than the amniotic fluid. In late pregnancy K concentration increases whereas NaCl concentration decreases; there is also an increase in creatinine level.
