Studies on the physiology of flowering and fruit growth in mango (Mangifera indica L). VII. Naturally occurring auxins and inhibitors in the shoots of flowering (on) and vegetative (off) mango trees

, : Studies on the physiology of flowering and fruit growth in mango (Mangifera indica L). VII. Naturally occurring auxins and inhibitors in the shoots of flowering (on) and vegetative (off) mango trees. Indian Journal of Horticulture 29(2): 115-125

A comparison was made of the growth substances present during the season of flower bud initiation in shoots of the regular bearing Totapuri Red Small and in shoots of the biennial bearer Dashehari in both its on and off years. In chromatograms of shoot extracts of both cvs there were 2 zones containing auxin-like substances (one tentatively identified as IAA) and a zone of growth inhibitor identified as abscisic acid.
