The modulus of torsion, loss modulus and mechanical damping of wood of Betula maximowicziana treated with tetraethylene pentamine (TEPA) and with mixtures of TEPA and glycerol were determined over a temperature range from 10 deg to 100 deg C. Above 40 deg C the torsion modulus decreased considerably when the wood contained more than 20% of plasticizer. The glass transition temperature of the wood decreased with increasing plasticizer content.
