Studies on the population of Helicotylenchus Steiner (Nematoda: Hoplolaimidae)

, : Studies on the population of Helicotylenchus Steiner (Nematoda: Hoplolaimidae). Revue d' Ecologie et de Biologie du Sol 11(2): 233-239

Soil samples taken from farms at New Delhi, India showed that the nematode populations, predominantly Helicotylenchus microdorus, increased to comparable levels on monocultures of wheat, maize and cotton and to a lower level on sugarcane. Much higher sugarcane populations were found, however, at the end of the wheat-cotton-sugarcane-sugarcane crop sequence. The numbers increased as the crops grew, at a rate which was greatest in the early stages of crop growth.
