Studies on the possible role of beta-hemolysin of Staphylococcus aureus, and blood serum in the pathogenesis of bovine mastitis

, : Studies on the possible role of beta-hemolysin of Staphylococcus aureus, and blood serum in the pathogenesis of bovine mastitis. Dissertation Abstracts International, B 35(5): 2504

Results of studies, involving infection of mammary glands with a beta -haemolysin-producing strain of Staph. aureus indicated a highly probable role of beta -haemolysin in interfering with the defence mechanisms of the mammary gland, whilst studies on bovine blood sera revealed the presence of a potent chemotactic substance capable of inducing neutrophil migration into infected mammary glands.
