Studies on the possible use of chlorocholine chloride (CCC) in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.). I. Response to treatment of various two-rowed and six-rowed varieties in autumn and spring sowings

, : Studies on the possible use of chlorocholine chloride (CCC) in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.). I. Response to treatment of various two-rowed and six-rowed varieties in autumn and spring sowings. Annali della Facolta di Scienze Agrarie della Universita degli Studi di Torino1973; 8: 113-126

The effect of CCC was assessed using 14 six-rowed and eleven two-rowed varieties in an autumn sowing and 25 two-rowed varieties in a spring sowing. In the autumn-sown group, a yield increase, particularly among the six-rowed varieties, was observed. The interaction variety X treatment was significant. CCC treatment tended to reduce grain protein content in both types, but the reduction was more consistent in two-rowed varieties, and may thus be of interest for the malting industry.
