Studies on the potassium nutrition of satsuma trees. II. The effects of potassium application and fruiting on the growth and nutrient composition of the tree and on fruit quality

, : Studies on the potassium nutrition of satsuma trees. II. The effects of potassium application and fruiting on the growth and nutrient composition of the tree and on fruit quality. Bulletin of the Horticultural Research Station, A Hiratsuka (11): 77-102

Five levels of K nutrition (0-40 g K2O/pot for 5 years) and 2 levels of fruiting were studied. Yield, fruit size and citric acid content of the juice were enhanced by increasing K, but leaf number, plant dry weight, dry weight of most organs and juice sugar were higher at lower K levels. The higher level of fruiting reduced trunk diameter and fruit size. Symptoms of K deficiency were noted in trees given no K.
