Studies on the problem of physiological specialization of mint rust Puccinia menthae Persoon

, : Studies on the problem of physiological specialization of mint rust Puccinia menthae Persoon. Archiv fur Pflanzenschutz 8(1): 15-27

Detached leaves of 12 clones of different Mentha spp., Satureia hortensis, Majorana hortensis and Origanum vulgare were inoculated under controlled conditions in the lab. with uredospores of 14 different, mainly single-spore, isolates and the rust reaction was assessed on a 0-3 scale. Eight biotypes or biotype groups were distinguished. Uredospores dried in a vacuum were stored for at least 38 months without loss of infectivity.
