Studies on the production of respiratory mycoplasmosis-free chicks. II. The effect of antibiotic injection on the hatchability and health state of chicks

, : Studies on the production of respiratory mycoplasmosis-free chicks. II. The effect of antibiotic injection on the hatchability and health state of chicks. Bulletin of the Veterinary Institute in Pulawy 17(3/4): 75-82

At the beginning of incubation 0.1 ml of Mycoplasma gallisepticum suspension was introduced into the yolk sacs of groups of eggs. Of the five antibiotics subsequently injected tylosin and streptomycin were the most effective in eradicating the organism. Simultaneous injection of vitamin B2 compensated for the reduction in hatchability which occurred when the antibiotics were given alone.
