Studies on the properties of carnation mottle virus and carnation ringspot virus isolated in Poland

, : Studies on the properties of carnation mottle virus and carnation ringspot virus isolated in Poland. Phytopathologische Zeitschrift 74(4): 329-341

Both viruses were isolated from glasshouse carnations. The mottle virus was symptomless, whereas ringspot induced chlorotic and necrotic spots and leaf distortion. Of 98 plant spp. inoculated, 43 were infected by mottle and 73 by ringspot. The dilution end points for the viruses were 1:200 000 - 1:400 000 and 1:50 000-1:100 000, respectively, longevity in vitro was 30-35 and 13-18 days and thermal inactivation of both occurred at 85 - 90 deg C.
