Studies on the protection of tomato crops against TMV: the relative specificity of cross protection between different strains of the virus

, : Studies on the protection of tomato crops against TMV: the relative specificity of cross protection between different strains of the virus. Annales de Phytopathologie 3(4): 447-459

Tomato seedlings were infected with several non-virulent strains of TMV to avoid losses caused by virulent strains. The mutant M 11-16 slightly affected tomato growth but inhibited infection by the pathogenic aucuba tomato strain SM 1. Cross protection between tobacco strain SP and SM 1 was good during the first few weeks but later 16-30% of the plants became infected with both strains.
