Egg yolk was very effective in increasing the freezability of horse semen, and the optimum concentration in the diluent was about 5%. The min. concentration (0.5%) examined in the experiment was also effective. Inclusion of glycerol in the diluent was necessary for deep freezing, and the optimum concentration was about 5%. Good motility was obtained when semen was frozen for 18-32 s after the addition of glycerol (2nd dilution).
