For part 2 see NAR 43, 1942.3. Study in June 1971 in the Santama District of Tokyo was of 2 of the centres that prepare lunch and deliver it to schools. Intake of protein, animal protein and essential amino acids from lunch prepared by either centre was satisfactory. Protein score was 76 and egg score was 67; for either score the S-amino acids were limiting. Human milk score was 87 at one centre and 88 at the other, with tryptophan limiting.
