Studies on the pruning of satsumas. Part 3. Distribution of leaves and fruit, and relative light intensity in pruned and unpruned young tree canopies

, : Studies on the pruning of satsumas. Part 3. Distribution of leaves and fruit, and relative light intensity in pruned and unpruned young tree canopies. Bulletin of the Shikoku Agricultural Experiment Station (25): 57-69

After 3 years' pruning the peripheries of 11-year-old trees were more uneven and leaf numbers, fruit yields, tree heights and canopy diameters were less than those in unpruned trees. In both treatments the fruit was borne most densely just below mid-height but difference in distribution at different heights was less marked with pruned trees; radial distribution was similar in pruned and unpruned trees.
