Studies on the quality characteristics of rice varieties. 1

, : Studies on the quality characteristics of rice varieties. 1. Journal of Taiwan Agricultural Research 20(3): 31-41

Grain of 55 non-glutinous cc. of rice (17 japonica, 17 indica and 21 japonica X indica hybrids), grown at Taipei in 1969-70, was analysed. The constituents of the grain of the hybrids were almost identical to those of the japonica and those of early japonica were similar to those of indica Among the indica those from the USA had high protein and low amylose contents, whereas native had high levels of both protein and amylose.
