Pollen grains of 4 Mentha spp. were treated with gamma rays at doses of 1 to 80 krad applied at a rate of 65 krad/h. They were then cultured on agar + sucrose and pollen tube nucleus mitosis studied at various stages. With increasing dose the frequency of mitosis was reduced and its occurrence was delayed. Low doses were inhibitive in M. rotundifolia and M. spicata. M. arvensis, and M.a. piperascens more so, were relatively resistant to irradiation.
