Studies on the rate of leaf emergence in tobacco plants. 2. Effects of top and root temperatures on the rate of leaf emergence

, : Studies on the rate of leaf emergence in tobacco plants. 2. Effects of top and root temperatures on the rate of leaf emergence. Bulletin of the Utsunomiya Tobacco Experiment Station (9): 27-38

Tobacco plants were maintained with their tops at 16 deg , 20 deg , 24 deg , 28 deg , 32 deg , 36 deg or 40 deg C and with their roots at 17 deg. Rate of leaf emergence increased with increases in top temperature up to 28 deg ; optimum top temperatures for leaf emergence were 24 deg -33 deg.
