Studies on the reactions of the carpo-metacarpal articular structures of horses, sheep and cattle with particular reference to the so-called synovial grooves in various experimentally induced pathological conditions

, : Studies on the reactions of the carpo-metacarpal articular structures of horses, sheep and cattle with particular reference to the so-called synovial grooves in various experimentally induced pathological conditions. Annali della Facolta di Medicina Veterinaria di Torino2; 19: 13-46

Groups of horses, sheep and cattle were injected intraarticularly in the carpo-metacarpal joint: with trypan blue or pyrilamine blue in normal saline; with 0.5% formol saline; with heterologous serum in a series of doses to induce allergic arthritis; or with autologous blood. The aseptic inflammatory processes so caused activated defence reactions in the folds and villi of the synovial capsule, and in the epiphyseal trabeculae adjacent to the joint cavity.
