Studies on the reactions of wheat to soil fungi. III. The reactions of winter-wheat varieties and breeding lines to the activities of pathogenic soil fungi

In two successive years, plants of up to 50 varieties and lines were grown both in sterile soil and in soil carrying a natural mixture of unspecified pathogenic fungi. Data are tabulated on their germination and overwintering successes, the number of fertile tillers per plant, plant height, grain yield and 1000-grain weight in both environments. With regard to each of these qualities, a few varieties performed better in infected than in sterile soil.
