Studies on the regeneration of the hill forests of the Malay Peninsula: the phenology of Dipterocarps

, : Studies on the regeneration of the hill forests of the Malay Peninsula: the phenology of Dipterocarps. Malayan Forester 35(2): 103-123

(Cf. FA 33, 486; 34, 3331) Presents and discusses a compilation of flowering records by region from 1925 to 1970, concluding that most Dipterocarp species flower gregariously at intervals of 2-5 years. Observations on Shorea curtisii and S. platyclados in hill forest in Selangor, in the seed-years 1968 and 1970, showed that up to 50% of the stand flowered in any one seed-year and that these trees did not generally flower again in the next seed-year.
