Studies on the regional difference in the growth of potatoes to the condition of cultivation

, : Studies on the regional difference in the growth of potatoes to the condition of cultivation. Research Bulletin of the Hokkaido National Agricultural Experiment Station (109): 1-17

In field trials in 6 districts of Hokkaido, potatoes were given P, K and Mg with 3 rates of N. Leaf size and the leaf:stem ratio were larger at 2 sites than at the other 4, and at 1 of these 2 sites small tubers were formed due to early planting while at the other late planting gave no small tubers. At 3 sites, but not at 2 others, total leaf N content decreased and total stem sugar content increased with increasing plant growth. Total DM yield increased with applied N at 2 sites.
