Studies on the relationship between pollen grains and honey bees

, : Studies on the relationship between pollen grains and honey bees. Japanese Journal of Palynology 3: 19-31

The mean weight of the two pollen loads carried by a honeybee was 21.8 mg for Thea sinensis and 24.5 mg for Macleya cordata. The more nectar a bee carried, the smaller her pollen load; bees added nectar to the pollen as they made the loads.Thea sinensis nectar and Portulaca grandiflora pollen contained sucrose but not glucose or fructose; T. sinensis pollen and P. grandiflora nectar contained glucose and fructose but not sucrose.
