Studies on the relationships between the characteristics of the shoots and the quality and yield of green tea of new, early tea strains

, : Studies on the relationships between the characteristics of the shoots and the quality and yield of green tea of new, early tea strains. Journal of the Agricultural Association of China Chung hua Nung hsueh Hui Pao (86): 28-78

Correlation coefficients were established between yield of fresh tea leaves and young-shoot characteristics in 40 new early varieties. Yield was correlated negatively with thickness of the second leaf and positively with leaf size and internode length. Weight of 100 young shoots was negatively correlated with liquor colour, both averaged over three seasons. Leaf size was negatively correlated with appearance, liquor quality and overall quality of green tea.
