Studies on the reproduction of the oriental migratory locust: nucleic acid and protein metabolism in the ovary and its relation with hormonal regulation

, : Studies on the reproduction of the oriental migratory locust: nucleic acid and protein metabolism in the ovary and its relation with hormonal regulation. Acta Entomologica Sinica 17(2): 148-160

Studies are reported on changes in the nucleic acid and protein contents of the developing ovary of the mated female of Locusta migratoria manilensis (Meyen) as compared with those in the virgin female and the unmated female treated with the gonadotropic factor of the male. In the mated female, the ovary begins to develop rapidly after pairing, which takes place 7-10 days after adult emergence.
