Narikawa, T.; Miura, T.; Matsukawa, I., 1970: Studies on the resistance to cold of pulses. I. Response to low temperature and shading. Bulletin of Hokkaido Prefectural Agricultural Experiment Stations Hokkaidoritsu Nogyo Shikenjo Shuho (22): 10-19
Shading caused stem lengthening in soya-bean varieties Kitamishiro Karikachi, Koganejiro and Harosoy, and in the Phaseolus vulgaris variety Otebo when grown at low and natural temperatures, but did not affect three other Ph. vulgaris varieties or four Ph. angularis varieties. Node number was reduced. Yield in Ph. vulgaris varieties was reduced by shading and in Ph. angularis by low temperatures.
