Studies on the resting habits of mosquitoes, Culex tritaeniorhynchus, in rural area

, : Studies on the resting habits of mosquitoes, Culex tritaeniorhynchus, in rural area. Science Reports of the Tohoku University, 4 Biology 37(1): 19-31

Resting examples of Culex tritaeniorhynchus Giles were collected near Narori City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, and the physiological age of the females was studied. Newly emerged females were found to rest on rice plants and weeds near the breeding place. Mating females were in stages Ia and early Ib. Inseminated females in late stage Ib dispersed to find a host, but most males remained near the rice-field.
