Studies on the rice stem borer control using sterile-male technique. I. On the radiosensitivity of rice stem borer (Chilo suppressalis Walker)

, : Studies on the rice stem borer control using sterile-male technique. I. On the radiosensitivity of rice stem borer (Chilo suppressalis Walker). korean Journal of Plant Protection 10(2): 117-120

In studies in Korea in connection with the possible use of the sterile-male technique for the control of Chilo suppressalis (Wlk.) on rice, larvae, pupae and adults were exposed to gamma -radiation from a radioactive cobalt (60Co) source. It was found that the pupal stage was the most suitable for irradiation and that for this stage the sublethal doses were 26 kR for females and 26.7 kR for males and the sterilising dose (SD90) 23 kR for the males.
