Studies on the role of progesterone as a regulator of the ovarian cycle in the golden hamster

, : Studies on the role of progesterone as a regulator of the ovarian cycle in the golden hamster. Dissertation Abstracts International, B 33(5): 2308

Injection with 25-100 mu g progesterone on the 2nd day of dioestrus (D2) at 19.00 h (lights out in a 14:10 h light : dark cycle) induced oestrus in 3-mth-old virgin females ; this was followed by delay of ovulation and its associated oestrus. The duration of the delay was increased by the larger progesterone doses. When progesterone was given at various times during the ovarian cycle, oestrus was not induced following injection at or before 11.00 h on D2.
