Studies on the salt tolerance of various species and clones of poplar and willow under laboratory and field conditions

, : Studies on the salt tolerance of various species and clones of poplar and willow under laboratory and field conditions. European Journal of Forest Pathology 3(1): 24-38

In a study of ten clones of Populus nigra, ten of P. X canescens, 16 of Salix alba and 20 of other Salix species and hybrids, winter twigs were dipped in a 23% NaCl solution. Susceptible material showing visible growth inhibition contained appreciable quantities of salt crystals in the tissues, while resistant material with no visible damaged contained few. All the P. nigra clones and most of the P.
